About Chery Fenley
I’m a story teller and my paintings are the stories. It’s all the same— the Virgin of Guadalupe, the Shekhina, the Corn Mother, Mother Earth It’s the feminine soul of the universe and our being. It’s nature, birth, the earth, creation, the womb, wisdom, understanding, gentleness. I’m trying to integrate the cultures (Jewish, Native American, Southwest, Hispanic), but I’m keeping them separate, too. My paintings express my different spiritual experiences and my learning processes, myself related to myth and ritual, the cycles of nature, the archetypal stories of all of us. When I paint, I try to bring out the joyful stuff…the outcome, the light at the end of the tunnel. I try to connect with the awe of creation, the awe of the universe.
